SKELETAL SYSTEM!

The skeletal system provides support and protection for the rest of the organ systems. It is made up of bones, ligaments, tendons, and cartilage.
 

Cartilage: a tough, flexible tisue that cushions joints and makes body parts such as the ears and trachea.

Appendicular Skeleton: the part of the skeleton made up of the bones in the shoulders, arms pelvis, and legs.

Axial Skeleton :the part of the skeleton made up of the skull, backbone, and rib cage.

1895: German Physicist, Wilhem Röentgen, discover x-rays.

1901: Röentgen was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics. It was the first Nobel Prize ever awarded for Physics. Röentgen died of stomach cancer. 

Stem cells are in bone marrow. They can make any kind of cell.

How Are Bones Important? 

-they shape and support the body

-protect vital organs

-anchor muscles

-supply calcium

-make different types of blood cells
